Tropical storm

This week in bullets:

  • Heavy traffic
  • Flooded streets
  • Squishy feet, socks and shoes
  • No Internet
  • 35 dead (as of last night)

And other such happy things.

But at least we here in the boondocks had this:

Fog. Rolling over the hills. In the afternoon. It reminded me of Baguio (and Stephen King’s The Mist, yeah). I miss Baguio. It’s where I intend to retire one day. Anyway, seeing this on my way to work put me in a bright mood despite the rain. And then the fog disappeared and so was my bright mood. It’s been a rotten week, all things considered, and my health is shot. I’m just glad to have this day off.

Stress relievers

Because this blog needs sexy Koreans in short shorts.

Right. I’m off to my weekend now. This workhorse here just had a long crazy week, so this two-day break is going to be extra sweet, to be spent with family and books and music and perhaps a movie or two squeezed in (I’ve a lot of catching up to do in that department). I also love the fact that for the first time in more than a month I’ve no important appointment to go to this weekend. So, yeah, I’m just gonna hole up in our little batcave here in the mountains and just chill the fuck out.

River runs pink

I’m listening to Life of Agony’s River Runs Red now. I simply have to. I dig this album. The band was fusing hardcore and metal long before fusing hardcore and metal became fashionable. I’m listening to it now because just this afternoon I learned from MetalSucks that vocalist Keith Caputo is now a, um, how shall I put this? HE’S NOW A WOMAN!!! And the news really threw me off.

Poor ignorant me. The butterfly tattoo should’ve been a dead giveaway.

Namesake

At the Makati Medical Center last Saturday for my daughter’s regular checkup. She was Patient No. 35. When we arrived there it was only Patient No. 18′s turn. Considering that each patient spent 20 to 30 minutes with the pedia, we were there from morning ’til afternoon, and when it was over we were all famished. It wasn’t my idea of a weekend, so naturally I was bored and restless and at times having an out-of-body experience. But what the hell, right? Anything for our precious bird.
